Effective November 1, 2025, OHP will reallocate its resources to areas of our state that have the greatest need for a Patrol presence. OHP is confident the professional law enforcement agencies within the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metropolitan areas are equipped to provide public safety services on the portions of the instates traveling through those cities. OHP will shift its valuable resources out of these two metropolitan areas to Oklahoma’s interstates and highways that have a significant volume of traffic covered by a smaller law enforcement footprint. With this move, OHP will be adapting to the evolving needs of our state, as have other highway patrols across the country.
For the Oklahoma City metro, OHP will entrust responsibility for all Instates inside the incorporated city limits to Oklahoma City, Edmond, Moore, Norman, Midwest City, and Del City. For the Tulsa metro, OHP will entrust responsibility for all Interstates inside the incorporated city limits to Tulsa. All interstates within these boundaries are the responsibility of the respective municipalities.
OHP will continue refining this plan for Troop realignment as the November 1, 2025 transition approaches.
