Okmulgee Man Pleads Guilty To Assault In Indian Country Featured

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Michael Shawn Mayberry, age 24, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, entered a guilty plea to Assault With A Dangerous Weapon In Indian Country, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 113(a)(3) and 1153, punishable by not more than 10 years imprisonment, up to a $250,000.00 fine, or both.


The Indictment alleged that beginning in or about December 2017, and continuing until in or about February 2018, within Indian County, as defined by Title 18, United States Code Section 1151, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma, the defendant, an Indian, did assault B.B., with dangerous weapons, with intent to do bodily harm.


The charges arose from an investigation by the Muscogee Creek Nation Lighthorse Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.


The Honorable Steven P. Shreder, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.

Assistant United States Attorney Kristin Harrington represented the United States.
