OSBI Investigates Multi-Agency Officer-Involved Shooting in Seminole County Featured

According to a press release from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, oMay 6, 2018 at approximately 1:42 p.m., Prague Police Department received a call of a male subject assaulting a female while driving.

 

Prague Police Department identified the subject vehicle and initiated a vehicle pursuit.

 

As the pursuit continued southbound on Highway 377, additional law enforcement agencies joined the pursuit to provide assistance.

 

On the south side of Seminole, in Seminole County, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper performed a tactical vehicle intervention maneuver disabling the subject vehicle.

 

At the cessation of the pursuit, the male subject raised a rifle and officers from multiple agencies discharged their weapons.

 

The male subject was pronounced dead at the scene and release of his information is pending positive identification and next-of-kin notification.

 

All officers are uninjured. No additional persons were in the subject vehicle at the time the pursuit ended. The Seminole County Sheriff's Office and Seminole Police Department requested OSBI investigate the officer-involved shooting.

 

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is assisting OSBI in the investigation. Numerous agents are on scene conducting a crime scene investigation, documenting the pursuit, and interviewing witnesses and involved parties.

 

Once the OSBI completes its investigation, the report will be forwarded to the Seminole County District Attorney's Office.

 

Involved in the pursuit and/or shooting were the following agencies: Prague Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police, Seminole County Sheriff's Office, and Seminole Police Department. The OSBI does not release names of involved officers unless they are charged with a crime.
