OSBI Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting in Noble County Featured

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, On Sunday evening, December 9, 2018, a subject, later identified as Shane Adair Wentling, 39, attempted to purchase beer from a store in Wichita, Kansas.


The clerk refused to sell Wentling the beer and Wentling brandished a firearm, left cash, and left the store.


Wentling later shot a vehicle as he was driving on a Kansas highway.


Kansas authorities issued a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) for Wentling's vehicle.


Wentling drove into Oklahoma on I-35 and brandished a firearm to another driver.


Oklahoma law enforcement received the BOLO and the report from the Oklahoma driver.


Around midnight, Wentling's vehicle was spotted and a pursuit ensued by Perry Police Department and Noble County Sheriff's Office.


A tactical vehicle intervention was performed on Wentling's vehicle, stopping the vehicle.


Wentling brandished a firearm to law enforcement and was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.


OSBI agents are processing the crime scene, conducting interviews, and following leads. Once completed, they will present their comprehensive report to the Noble County District Attorney's Office.
