According to a spokeswoman for the city of Ada, one man is dead after neighbors reported a woman screaming and asking for help, as someone with a knife was trying to hurt her and her children.
According to reports Leland Foster, 27, of Poteau, threatened the children’s mother and had taken his 3-month-old twins from her and was trying to drown them in a bathtub.
Cash Freeman, was alerted of the incident from a 12-year-old neighbor who lives in the home where the incident took place and grabbed his revolver and entered the home and pushed the door open to the bathroom. When he saw the babies under water in the bathtub, he shot Foster twice.
According to news reports, Cash Freeman, actions were to defend the two children.
According to the Pontotoc County District Attorney, he hasn't seen a police report on the incident and can't determine whether criminal charges are will be filed on Freeman, but that the shooting seems to be justified.
The shooting happened at approximately 12:30 pm on June 2, 2017 at a home in Ada.
Both children were airlifted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and have since been released.
