Poteau woman dies from Injuries sustained in accident in McCurtain County Featured

According to the report, a 2004 BMW 525 driven by Nicole Jacobs 35, of Pawhuska, OK was northbound on United States Highway 259 and traveled left of center and struck a 2006 Nissan Altima driven by Ellen Tom 69, of Poteau, the BMW continued northbound and struck a 2018 Ford F150 driven by Eric Elias 55, of Jenks, OK.

Jacobs was transported by Air-Evac to Plano Medical Center in Plano, TX and was admitted in Critical Condition with leg and trunk internal injuries.


Ellen Tom was transported by Air-Evac to Plano Medical Center in Plano, TX and was pronounced deceased at the hospital with trunk internal injuries.


Eric Elias was not injured.


Tom and Elias were pinned in their vehicles for approximately 30 minutes before being freed by Broken Bow Fire Department using the Hurst Tool.


The accident was investigated by OHP, McCurtain County Sheriff’s Department and McCurtain County EMS.
