A new school year means new routines, fresh supplies, and plenty of excitement. It’s also a great time to review safety steps to keep students, families, and communities prepared both in and out of the classroom.

Back-to-School Safety Tips:

  • Update emergency contacts – Make sure schools have current phone numbers and authorized pick-up information.

  • Review communication plans – Ensure children know how to reach you and where to meet if separated.

  • Practice the route – Walk or drive to school with younger students and review safe walking or bus procedures.

  • Pack a “just in case” kit – Include a small flashlight, contact list, and any personal medical needs.

  • Stay healthy – Encourage handwashing and good hygiene to reduce illness spread.

  • Be weather-ready – Make sure students have appropriate clothing for unexpected conditions.

A little preparation now can lead to a safe and successful school year for everyone.

Wishing you and your student a great school year.
