OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 15, 2020) – Oklahoma Secretary of Human Services and Early Childhood Initiatives and Human Services Director Justin Brown launched the Oklahoma Clearinghouse for Early Childhood Success to promote well-being for Oklahoma children and their families today. The Clearinghouse will work to improve early childhood systems to define quality in childcare and early learning environments, fast-track innovation and implement research-informed practice and practice-informed research and by maximizing public/private partnerships.

“We believe this Oklahoma Clearinghouse for Early Childhood Success will be a globally-recognized mechanism to develop the evolving definition of quality in early childhood systems,” said Secretary Brown. “By prioritizing research and collaboration, our goal is to transform the futures of Oklahoma’s youngest citizens.”

The Clearinghouse will review and compile best practices and proven and promising research to determine the fidelity and feasibility of the concepts and evaluate them against a set of metrics and goals developed by a Research and Outcomes Committee. Once approved, the Clearinghouse Implementation Committee will move to execution by developing materials and a curriculum to deploy to early childhood providers and training modules for a workforce learning management system.

“This will be an ever-evolving model, guided by input from a committed group of early childhood volunteers who are dedicated to this important work,” said Brown. “We are excited to support such a transformational model within OKDHS, but even more excited that the future structure will live outside the agency and in the communities where it is being built from the ground up.”
