Press Release

OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Kyle Hilbert, R-Bristow, issued the following statement today on the announcement by Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis that he is retiring effective July 1.

“I’m wishing Burns and Ann Hargis the best on their upcoming retirement. Oklahoma State University and the state of Oklahoma as a whole are better off thanks to their leadership. Under Hargis’ tenure, the university has built state-of-the-art facilities for academics, has had sustained athletic success and has raised over $2 billion. In all ways measurable, the Hargis’s are leaving the campus better than they found it.

If you’ve met Burns Hargis, even just once, the odds are that you have a story to tell from it. I look forward to hearing these stories from many Oklahomans in the months to come as we recognize a good man on a career of great public service. (Although his service to our state is not finished, just entering a new phase!) I know I am not alone in saying that my life is better off because of the positive impact that Burns and Ann Hargis have had on it.”

Hilbert, an OSU graduate, served as Student Body President from 2015-2016.

Kyle Hilbert serves District 29 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, which includes parts of Creek and Tulsa counties.
