
Around 12:30 p.m., Pocola Police officers responded to an abandoned residence near Butler Avenue and Clark Avenue regarding a deceased male. When they arrived on scene, they identified the victim as 24-year-old Jaybriel Montgomery, who had suffered from an apparent gunshot wound. Montgomery was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further testing and evaluation.
During the investigation, OSBI special agents identified the suspect as 24-year-old Parker Maxwell Smith. A First-Degree Murder Warrant was issued for Smith by the Leflore County District Court.
On January 31, 2025, Smith was located in the Fort Smith, Arkansas area and arrested by the Fort Smith Police Department. He was booked into the Sabastian County Jail and will be extradited back to Leflore County.
