According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a police pursuit that began at approximately 1 am on June 4, 2023, ended when the driver a 45-year-old man from Talihina crashed on Williams Avenue after striking a tree.
According to the OHP report, the pursuit started in Talihina city limits and continued onto Williams Ave in Leflore County when the driver of a 2001 GMC Sierra failed to stop at the stop sign on Williams Ave and Highway 63.
The driver continued across Highway 63 southbound into a barbwire fence then continued for approximately 75 ft through heavy brush before striking a large tree.
The driver was pinned for approximately 4 hours and was extricated by the Talihina Fire Department.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by LeFlore County EMS from injuries sustained in the collision.
The accident was Investigated by OHP, Talihina Fire Department, Talihina Police Department, LeFlore County EMS and Choctaw Nation Tribal Police.
