According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 17-year-old Poteau male was injured in a vehicle accident that occurred on July 11, 2018 at approximately 5:05pm on Ainsworth Street, 6 tenths of a mile south of 166th Street, approximately 1.6 miles north of Spiro in LeFlore County.
According to the report, a 2009 Ford Pickup, driven 16-year-old female from Spiro was traveling southbound and the 17-year-old boy was riding outside the passenger compartment when he fell from the vehicle and struck by the pickup.
The teen was transported by Air Evac to St John Hospital Tulsa listed in critical but stable condition with multiple injuries.
The 16-year-old female along with another passenger, a 15-year-old male from Spiro were not injured.
The accident is under investigation by the OHP, LeFlore County Sheriff’s office and the Spiro Fire Department.
