According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, two people were injured in an automobile accident that occurred on September 30, 2018 at approximately 2:35pm on State Highway 59 and State Highway 9, approximately three miles south and one mile east of Cowlington in LeFlore County.
According to the report, a 2011 Ford Pickup, driven by Verna Arterburn, 71, from Keota was traveling westbound on SH9, ran off the road to the right striking a culvert overturning one complete time before coming to rest on its wheels.
Arterburn was transported by LeFlore County EMS to Sparks Hospital Ft Smith AR and was treated and released with an arm injury.
A passenger, Edmond Arterburn, 81, from Keota was transported by LeFlore County EMS to Sparks Hospital Ft Smith AR and later transferred to Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville AR and was listed in stable condition with a trunk internal injury.
