According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a one vehicle accident occurred on Feb 18, 2019, at approximately 1:10 pm on State Highway 43, 5.1 miles west and 4.1 miles north of Clayton in Pushmataha County.

 

According to the report, a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by John McDonald, 71, of Talihina, was traveling eastbound on State Highway 43, when he departed the roadway to the left and overcorrected then departed the roadway to the right striking a street sign and cement culvert.

The pickup overturned an unknown amount of times before coming to a stop.

McDonald was transported by Air Methods to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, and was admitted in guarded condition with head injuries.

 

The accident was Investigated by OHP of the Choctaw County Detachment of Troop E and assisted by The Wild Life Department, Clayton Fire Department, LeFlore County EMS, and Air Method.
