According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a motorcycle and a pickup truck collided on US- 271 and the bypass in Poteau.
According to the report on August 26, 2023, at approximately 5:39 pm a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Sheanna Griffith 40, from Talihina, was merging onto northbound US-59 from S Broadway street and a 2018 Ram Pickup driven by James Necessary, 39, from Poteau was traveling northbound on US-59 in the outside lane, and while merging the motorcycle struck the pickup truck.
Griffith was transported by Mercy Air Ambulance in stable condition with head and arm injuries to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
The accident was investigated by OHP, Poteau Fire Department, LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office, LeFlore County EMS, and Mercy Air Service.
