The LeFlore County Historical Society (LCHS) held their fourteenth annual fund-raising event for The LeFlore County Museum, A Taste of LeFlore County, October 9, 2025. According to event organizers this is the largest crowd they had ever had. In previous years the guests had outgrown the north 100 block of Witte Street, so this year the organizers decided to incorporate approximately half of the adjacent block of Dewey Avenue toward the 220 on Dewey (Pocket Park) allowing guests to have more room to maneuver around the tables and chairs. Several guests commented that this was the best Taste of LeFlore County event yet.
The LCHS Board wants to thank everyone who participated in whatever way they helped and asks that you support the businesses that made the event a success.
“Because of the support of so many in our community, we are able to preserve the history of LeFlore County and keep admission to the museum free.” David Deaton, Executive Director of LCHS stated. “There is nowhere else to learn so much about our area from our JFK exhibit to the Senator Kerr room, and local railroad history, mining, military, runestone, Spiro Mounds, and so much more. Thank you for your continued support of The LeFlore County Museum at Hotel Lowrey.”
