The Community State Bank recently purchased the Poteau Theater. The intent is to lease it to Poteau Public Schools for a ten year period and then donate it to the school. The hope is that this will enable the school to expand their educational opportunities in the performing arts.
Larry Spradley, President/CEO of The Community State Bank stated “What an exciting opportunity for the school and certainly for the community to watch the transformation of the Poteau Theater to a venue that further supports the arts, virtual learning, and other events that the school will promote. The bank is thrilled to play a part in the venture“.
“I want to thank Mr. Reed and The Community State Bank for making this opportunity available to the district” stated Dr. Don Sjoberg, Superintendent of Schools. “The theater can be used for small student performance venues and district staff meetings but, most importantly, we are preparing for future pandemics that will require social distancing for students while they receive “in-person” instruction and the design of the theater fits that need perfectly. We can now use 3 different “classrooms” to provide instruction”.
