Well, Jumpin’ Jehoshaphat! I have a tough choice to make. There are so many chances to hear great live music this week that I just can’t make up my mind. Some of y’all might see me at one of them after I spin the bottle to see just which way that I’m gonna jump.
“Vida Brooks High Country Bluegrass” will present a late morning show for the folks at the Pocola Senior Center on Tuesday 20th. Music is from 10 am til Noon. Then, lunch is served. Good people, good food, Good music.
Ya can start listening and dancing cross the Ark. River at Muldrow City Limits on Tuesday 20th. “The City Limits Band” play from 7-10 pm. It will be a fun nite. The dance has had great turnouts so far, but I understand that the ladies need more men to even out the crowd. So fellas git over there Tuesday. The band has alotta talent on stage. David Keith, D J Links, Kenny Ogdon, Tony Lewis, Tommy Wilson and Wesley Trout. This week Randy Fennell and Ricky Ward will be sitting in. Tuesday Night! “Country Vault” will be playing this Sat. 24th.
Glen Rogers on Friday 23rd and “Grannie’s Nightmare” on Sat. 24th at Dawn’s Diner/Red Oak. Country Music on Friday and Rock & Roll on Sat. all served with good food at Dawn’s. Music starts at 6 pm both nites.
Crocky’s Cafe/Hackett will serve some country style grub with gospel flavored music on Friday 23rd with “59 South”. Gospel Night on Friday’s has been well attended this season so get there early for a good table. The band will bring Country, gospel and a couple of originals. My favorite song written by Randy Fennell is “Do you know?” Awesome message! Then it’s pure Country on Sat. 24th, “The Stagemasters” bring their show. It is a joy to hear these guys. Ya can even dance a lil after supper. Music both nights begins at 6 pm.
John Riley will be back at The Lot/Wister for another appearance on Sat. 24th. at 7 pm. The outside stage is just right for getting a bite to eat while listening to the music. This venue is doing a great job featuring solo artist and some up and comin’ singer/songwriters from our area. Thanks for all that you do for Live Music. Visit The Lot in Wister.
“The Shady Oak Tribadours” will be busy this weekend. Friday 23rd they are playing at Ava’s in Fiana Hills. This is a good fit for these guys. They have a well rounded show a lil’ Country, a lil’ Rock and as Jerry Reed said, Country+Rock= Crock. Show starts at 7 pm. Then, Jesse has invited the band Back to Warehouse Willie’s for the supper crowd. It is cool that Willie’s is having music again. The music starts at 6 pm.
“Make it a Double” will be over in McAlester at the VFW this Sat. 24th. Good place to dance, big floor. Music starts at 7 pm.
Looking ahead, “First Friday’ is back in the Pocket Park, more info later, BUT I do know that on July 7th, “Grannie’s Nightmare” will be the band. That will just be a part of the activities because that is the “First Friday Cruise night”. At the Coffee Cup, in the parking lot, Clay Grant will start at 7 pm. Open Mic at the Coffee Cup is coming up so watch here for details. Celebrate America in Downtown on Tuesday the 4th of July. Fireworks and activities for the whole family.
