The big news is the weather. Purty nice for February. Wild plums are blooming out ‘tween Coal Creek Rd and Panama. But, Mother Nature has a way of balancing the hot and cold and I am cautious that this is a “False Spring”. Good name for a band, or at least a song. This is a good ole setup for the Easter Freeze. So, I wouldn’t put maters out just yet!

Tuesday Night Jazz at the Lowery. Tuesday 28th, “Al Grzech and Friends” will start at 6:00 pm, playing Classic Jazz and Pop tunes that will be familiar to all and quite a treat. This Month, Al will feature Niki Waters on vocals. Miss Waters has been a member of one of the area’s finest college bands, the “Jazz Catz” from U. of Arkansas Ft. Smith. This talented singer is singing around Ft. Smith and has been on stage with “The Al Grzech Trio” and Don and Terri Bailey at the 906 Lounge on Garrison Ave. Don’t miss this evening of music. Free to the Public. There will be drinks and a food tray, too. Come enjoy this opportunity to hear good music in Downtown Poteau.

If Rock-a Billy is your style then Spiro’s own, Bob Calloway will be on stage with his band and recording artist, “The Clicks”. This very experienced band, 50+ years, has a history that started in High School in the mid 1950’s. They were pioneers in the new genre of music that started with “Jerry Lee Lewis”- Great Balls of Fire, “Carl Perkin’s” Blue Suede Shoes, Ft. Smith’s “Bee Bumble and the Stingers”- Bumble Boogie and the Top Ten Hit by “The Clicks”-Tick Tock! The music that inspired early hits by “The Beatles”. This will be an extra special show because “The Clicks” will be joined by Gary Hutchison/guitar and Dillon Taylor/guitar. This lineup will make for an awesome encore with three exceptional musicians playing together. Oh ya, it will be at JJ’s Grill on 5400 Phoenix Ext. by the Airport, on Sat. March 4th from 7-10 pm. The food is good and the music will be Hot!

Great country music and it’s “Meatloaf Day”, too! “Oklahoma Moon” will be singing for the best steaks around up at The Wolf by Tenkiller Lake. I think the boys play for tips but almost break the place by the way that they can put them great steaks away. They broke Ricky Ward’s plate last time. Music starts 6 pm on Friday 3rd. Be there for the fun.
