THREE VEHICLE ACCIDENT NEAR SPIRO IN LEFLORE COUNTY Featured

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a three vehicle  collision occurred on January13 2020,  at approximately 7:06am  on United State Highway 59, approximately 3 miles west of Spiro, OK in LeFlore County.

 

According to the report, a: 2005 Chevy Trailblazer, driven by Colton Williams,19, from Keota was traveling westbound on US59 and he fell asleep and departed the roadway to the right, His passenger, Cody McCormick, 20, from Keota woke up  Williams and Williams then overcorrected going left of center and striking a 2015 Chevy Malibu, driven by Steven Bigger 49, from Stigler who was traveling eastbound on US59.

Bigger departed road to right overturning ¾ of a time before coming to rest on the driver’s side. He was pinned in his vehicle for approximately 1 hour and was extricated by Pocola Fire Department using Hurst Rescue Tool.

 

Williams continued forward and struck a 2019 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by Erica Taylor, 33, from Vian who was also traveling eastbound on US59.

 

Williams was transported by private vehicle to Sparks Hospital in Ft Smith, AR and was treated and released. McCormick was not injured. 

 

Bigger was transported by LeFlore County EMS to Mercy Hospital in Ft Smith and was listed in stable condition with massive injuries .

Taylor was not injured. 

According to the OHP report, the  Condition of Driver – Williams  DUI/Drugs,

Apparently normal for Bigger and Taylor


Cause of Collision – DUI/Drugs


Seat belts – In use for all involved


Airbags – Deployed on all except the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder


Weather – Clear and dry


Roadway – 2 lane, undivided, asphalt

 

The accident was Investigated by OHP, the Panama Police Department, LeFlore County EMS and Pocola Fire Department.
