LeFlore County Branch NAACP Honors Dr. John Montgomery
CASC President Mr. Jay Faulkner – Guest Speaker
We are proud to announce our 7th Dr. John Montgomery Scholarship Banquet, August 25, 2018 at 6pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center in Poteau, OK. Dr. Montgomery helped organize the local NAACP and was very instrumental in ending segregation and bridging racial gaps that existed in the mid 1900’s. Dr. John Montgomery’s voice is still ringing loud and clear in our communities.
Jay Falkner began his career at Carl Albert State College in 2002. He has since served in a number of jobs and leadership roles including Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management, Director of Title III & Enrollment and Retention, Coordinator of the University Center, Scholars Program, Student Conduct, Intramural Sports and Upward Bound. Prior to joining CASC, he worked for his alma mater, Northeastern State University, as a Facilitator for College Strategies Program, an Interviewer for the Redmen Ambassadors and Honors Program, and as a Recruiter.
In 2016, Falkner accepted the ultimate leadership role within the institution and accepted an appointment to serve as President of CASC. President Falkner’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources Management plus a minor in General Business from Northeastern State University. He holds a Masters of Education from East Central University, and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Arkansas.
Community has always played a key role in President Falkner’s life. He is an active board member of the Kiamichi Technology Center Advisory Committee, a member of the LeFlore County Coalition for Healthy Living, a board member of Pervasive Parenting Center of Southeast Oklahoma, and a coach and volunteer for the LeFlore County Soccer Association.
President Falkner shared, “CASC has always played a vital role in my life. My dad taught for the College and I practically grew up on campus. It’s always been a dream to serve CASC as its President and now I get to live my dream each day. It’s an honor to serve in this capacity, but to be in the company of my prestigious predecessors, that’s a privilege.”
Falkner and his wife, Kelly, live in Panama with their son Aidan.
