Timmons and Schmidt Join Kiamichi Tech Team Featured

Poteau, Okla. – Kiamichi Tech recently hired two new team members for their Poteau Campus: Jillian Timmons and Scott Schmidt.

Jillian Timmons joins Kiamichi Tech’s team as a Customer Service Specialist. She is responsible for greeting visitors, answering all in-coming campus calls, assisting the Registrar with data entry for student records and managing seminar room meeting requests. Timmons is a graduate of Poteau High School, Carl Albert State College, and Northeastern State University. Before joining Kiamichi Tech, Timmons also worked at Poteau Primary School’s afterschool program and at the Purple Plume. Timmons and her husband, Shane, live in Poteau. She enjoys spending time with family, going to the movies, and shopping. In her spare time, she enjoys sewing, watercolor painting, and reading. Timmons stated, “I am excited about joining an organization that provides so much for our community. I look forward to contributing to our mission of Preparing People for Success!”

Scott Schmidt joins Kiamichi Tech as a Maintenance employee. He is responsible for helping provide a clean and safe work environment for students and staff. After working for many years for Whirlpool, Schmidt attended Kiamichi Tech’s Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning program at the Poteau Campus. After completing the HVAC program, he worked in the HVAC industry until being laid off during the COVID-19 pandemic. Schmidt and his wife, Deanna, live in Greenwood. He enjoys riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and being involved with his church. “As a student, Kiamichi Tech changed my life. Now, I am getting to contribute to students’ lives as a staff member.”

Kiamichi Technology Centers has played an integral role in southeastern Oklahoma communities since 1968, serving ten full and three partial counties. Kiamichi Tech is one of 29 districts in the Oklahoma CareerTech system with more than 30 career programs. Kiamichi Tech also offers a wide variety of evening and weekend short-term courses as well as certifications in many diverse career fields. Kiamichi Tech has over 20,000 full time and short-term enrollments each year and serves area companies through our Workforce and Economic Development Centers that works with over 400 businesses annually.
