The Pervasive Parenting Center, along with the Moshulatubbee and Murrow Masonic Lodges in Cameron and Spiro, hosted the 7th Annual Trivia Night Saturday, March 12, at the Kiamichi Technology Center, in Poteau, OK. The event was held to raise funds for the center. More than 200 attended the event.
This year’s theme was Alice in Wonderland, and several participants dressed as their favorite characters. There were 14 teams competing, and they raised more than $4000.
Funds raised will go to the Pervasive Parenting Center, and will be used to help families in the area coping with disabilities. In past years the center donated more than $2,600 to local special education departments in LeFlore, Sequoyah, Latimer, and Haskell Counties. It has also helped with autism training for more than 2,500 local teachers, professional, and parents. Members worked with state-wide resources to hold trainings and conferences in the area related to developmental disabilities.
“We are thankful and excited about the funds we raised here this weekend,” said Kodey Toney, director of the non-profit organization. “The support from the community is overwhelming. With these funds we will continue to give back to the communities and help bring in resources so that we can assist families.”
In addition, the local Masonic Lodges in Cameron and Spiro have agreed to match funds from the night’s event. The total amount is not determined yet.
