Oklahoma is an upland bird hunter’s playground, with some of the best habitat available for iconic game birds like quail and pheasant. With the Nov. 14 quail opener fast approaching, and the Dec. 1 pheasant opener in select northern Oklahoma counties following soon after, hunters might be looking for what to expect in 2026.
The Wildlife Department has the latest outlooks for both species posted on its website now. Check them out!
Quail and pheasant season dates and regulations can vary year to year, so be sure to check out the current Fishing and Hunting Regulations for details like harvest limits and pheasant season boundaries. The Wildlife Department’s website at wildlifedepartment.com also has hunting tips and resources for upland birds, as well as information for hunting public lands like wildlife management areas and public access areas like OLAP.
