The Oklahoma deer archery opener is Oct. 1. To harvest the full archery bag limit, bowhunters need only an annual hunting license paired with a deer archery license, and hunters under 18 need only a youth annual super hunting license.

Hunters with either setup can take up to six deer as part of the archery season, (no more than two antlered), all of which count toward the hunter’s combined season limit of six deer. This structure, which went into effect last year, paves the way for archers to harvest more antlerless deer in a cost-effective manner, while helping secure more funding for conservation.

Oct. 1 is also the opener of several other major archery seasons such as elk, antelope, black bear and turkey. For complete rules for archery hunting, check out the Oklahoma Fishing & Hunting Regulations here or on the Go Outdoor Oklahoma mobile app.
