
ANNOUNCEMENT: Trout stocking has been suspended for the month of September in the Lower Illinois River due to elevated water temperatures. Trout are especially sensitive to warm temperatures and stocking will resume once temperatures drop to safe levels.

Grand: August 31. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 85°F and murky. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits, plastic baits, and spinnerbaits around brush structure, docks, points, and shorelines. Blue catfish fair on cut bait and shad below the dam, channels, docks, and main lake. White bass fair on Alabama rigs, in-line spinnerbaits, and spoons below the dam, flats, main lake, and points. Kaw: September 2. Elevation is 3 ft. above normal and falling, water temperature 84°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth and spotted bass fair on buzz baits, crankbaits, jerk baits, jigs, lipless baits, plastic baits, and topwater lures around coves, points, riprap, rocks, and shorelines. Striped bass, striped bass hybrids, and white bass fair on flukes, jerk baits, jigs, live bait, live shad, sassy shad, shad, and topwater lures below the dam. Paddlefish fair snagging below the dam. Keystone: September 1. Elevation is 2 ft. above normal and falling, water temperature 75°F and murky. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth bass good on Alabama rigs, bill baits, buzz baits, crankbaits, in-line spinnerbaits, jerk baits, plastic baits, small lures, and spinnerbaits around brush structure, docks, points, riprap, shallows, standing timber, and weed beds. Lower Illinois River: August 29. Elevation is 1 ft. above normal and stable, water temperature 70°F and clear. Rainbow trout slow on caddis flies, in-line spinnerbaits, midges, nymphs, PowerBait, and worms below the dam, shallows, and shorelines. Comments: Current river flow 570 CFS, possibly could go higher with recent rain. Trout stocking still suspended until water conditions improve. Largemouth bass good on crankbaits, jigs, and plastic baits around main lake, points, river channel, and weed beds. Striped bass hybrids and white bass good on Alabama rigs, crankbaits, and live shad around coves, inlet, main lake, and river channel. McGee Creek: August 29. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 80°F and stained. Crappie slow on minnows, small lures, and tube jigs around brush structure and standing timber. Texoma: August 31. Elevation is .5 ft. above normal and stable, water temperature 82°F and clear. (USACE Lake Level) Striped bass fair on live bait, live shad, sassy shad, and slabs below the dam, flats, and points. Blue, channel, and flathead catfish good on cut bait, dough bait, live shad, and punch bait below the dam, channels, docks, points, and river mouth. Crappie slow on grubs, hair jigs, jigs, and nymphs around brush structure, coves, docks, points, and standing timber. Comments: Fishing this week has been about the same. The cooler temps have helped on the lake with striper fishing. Striper continue to bite well below the Denison Dam on live shad. In the main lake they are using slabs, trolling sassy shad on lead-core line and live shad. Catfish are being caught on punch bait near cleaning areas and baited holes.
