DURANT – Last minute attacks by party apparatchiks wasn’t enough to knock Coal County rancher, business owner and former State Senator Josh Brecheen out of the race for the GOP nomination to Oklahoma’s Congressional District No. 2 seat.

But the man who earned his political chops as a field rep for the late Sen. Dr. Tom Coburn isn’t taking a break.
“The people of District 2 aren’t happy with the status quo, from either party,” Brecheen said. “Our showing tonight is proof of that.”
According to preliminary results, Brecheen took 13.75 percent of the vote. He will face Avery Frix who won 14.74 percent. Brecheen was the last to file for the Republican primary in a field of 14. He waited to file as he and his wife prayed for direction.
Brecheen left the Oklahoma State Senate in 2018 keeping his promise of a self-imposed term limit. He has made the same promise if he is elected to Congress. This example of integrity and a proven conservative record is the legislature is what motivated recent attack ads and social media posts, Brecheen said. Negative tactics financed by out-of-state money and national political figures are proof that the people of Oklahoma know they deserve better than what they’ve been getting from Washington.
“It’s time we sent adults to DC, instead of the candy salesmen who have spent us into the economic mess we find ourselves in currently,” Brecheen said.
