OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. George Burns, R-Pollard, has introduced Senate Bill 1535, a bill aimed at expanding the scope and impact of the Oklahoma Low Carbon Energy Initiative. This proposed legislation seeks to modify the duties and membership of the Oklahoma Low Carbon Energy Initiative and the Oklahoma Low Carbon Energy Initiative Board.
SB 1535 introduces significant changes to the structure and objectives of the Oklahoma Low Carbon Energy Initiative and its governing board. This includes promoting the development of nuclear energy within the state and expanding the membership of the Oklahoma Low Carbon Energy Initiative Board by adding two new members: a representative from an electric utility appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and a representative from the nuclear energy industry appointed by the Speaker of the House.
“Senate Bill 1535 reinforces our commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and reducing carbon emissions in Oklahoma,” Burns said. “By promoting the development of nuclear energy and expanding the expertise within the Initiative’s Board, we are taking proactive steps towards a cleaner, more resilient energy future for our state.”
SB 1535 is available to be considered.
