Jesus, Light of the World, stepped down into darkness and brought hope of peace and good will toward mankind.

That’s the message of Christmas. And it’s a good one to reflect on right now. If you read the news, it can get a little distressing with reports of war overseas and unrest around the globe and even here in the U.S. Prices of everything are high these days. COVID and flu and other diseases are affecting people we love. We need a little light and peace and good will right now.

But it can’t be all on Jesus. He was the Light of the World, but He turned right around to His disciples and told them they were also the light of the world. He sent them into the darkness to be light and to spread His message of good news – that whosoever would believe on Him could be saved and have eternal life with Him in heaven. It’s up to us to be the light of the world these days.

So, as you’re out and about this holiday season enjoying all the festivities, the lights, the family gatherings, the wonderful food, the football, remember to spread some light and some cheer and some peace and good will.

Whether it’s feeding the homeless, thanking our law enforcement, first responders and our military for their service and sacrifice in time spent away from family, or any other thing you might do to serve others this holiday season, I say thank you.

And I wish all in our House district a very merry Christmas and the hope of a happy and good New Year.

As always, thank You for allowing me to serve you. I can be reached at (405) 557-7381 or by email at jim.grego@okhouse.gov.
