By Rep. Jim Grego

It’s time again to wish each other Merry Christmas, to sing “Silent Night,” to exchange some presents and eat some good food. There are always a lot of fun events and programs to attend in District 17 this time of year, and always beautiful lights and decorations to enjoy.

But I never want to forget the real reason for the season – the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. I’m always astounded when I think of God creating us, then watching us sin, and being willing to come down Himself to pay the penalty for our sins and bring us back into right relationship with Himself. Just amazing, and the best news of Christmas.

Still, I know there are many who struggle this time of year. It’s not always a joyful season for those who are struggling to find work or to pay the bills, or even for those who might have lost loved ones recently, or who don’t have family near to celebrate with. One thing I know about the people who live in District 17, however, is that we’re always willing to take care of each other. Those who have a little extra will share it with those who have a little less, and this will bless both the giver and the receiver.

No matter how you celebrate this Christmas, I hope you’ll take time to thank God for the gift that He gave in the form of His Son. And I hope you’ll take time to share some of your hope and blessings with those around you. May we all enjoy the beauty and meaning of this season.

As always, I’m thankful to the constituents of House District 17 for allowing me to serve. If I can help you in any way, I can be reached at (405) 557-7381 or by email at jim.grego@okhouse.gov.
