Summer and fall are interim study time at the House of Representatives. I have requested a study to look into when auto insurance follows the vehicle or when it follows the driver. We had an incident where a senior citizen had inadvertently let their insurance lapse. A driver for the senior was insured on multiple other vehicles, yet they were ticketed for no insurance on the car they were driving. Their license was in danger of being suspended. This incident was resolved, but it left many questions about when someone drives someone else’s vehicle, who has the primary coverage. This issue will be examined in detail later this fall.
By now, I’m sure everyone has seen where the Panasonic battery plant will be moving to Kansas. This is unfortunate that Oklahoma lost this billion-dollar plant to our neighbor to the north. However, many incentives that we passed as a legislative body will remain in place, and hopefully we will be able to land the next big thing coming down the pike.
Finally, it is hot and no relief in sight. Please check on your neighbors and the elderly, in particular, to ensure they have some type of cooling and plenty of water. Also, keep our farmers and ranchers in your prayers as we struggle through these difficult times while trying to keep our livestock fed and watered during this time of extreme drought.
