Washington, D.C. – Congressman Josh Brecheen issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 7888 – “Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act.”

“Benjamin Franklin wisely once said, ‘Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.’ I could not support this two-year reauthorization of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) that continues the status quo of allowing the federal government to unlawfully spy on Americans in violation of our Fourth Amendment rights. I voted in favor of Congressman Andy Biggs’ commonsense amendment that would require the federal government to get a warrant before conducting searches of American citizens. Unfortunately, this amendment failed on the House floor,” said Congressman Josh Brecheen.
