TAHLEQUAH— Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-2) hosted a Senior Information Fair at Go Ye Village in Tahlequah. This community meeting allowed constituents who had questions or issues with the Social Security Administration to visit with Congressman Mullin and members of his staff to provide answers and assistance.

“Our event today was an opportunity to connect Oklahomans having trouble filing Social Security claims with my team in order to solve any problems and answer any questions they had,” said Mullin. “Many people aren’t aware that my office can help serve as a liaison between individuals and federal agencies. Whether you come to our office or we come to you, we want to let people know that we’re always here to help.”

Representatives from various service organizations were in attendance including Disability Determination Services, Cherokee Nation Veterans Affairs, Medicare Assistance Program, NeoHealth, Cherokee Nation Human Services, Social Security Administration, Cherokee Elder Care, Housing Authority of Cherokee Nation, and Northeast Oklahoma Community Action Agency.

“I appreciate the innovative way that Congressman Mullin has begun reaching out to his District Two constituents over the important issue of social security,” said Don Nichols, Tahlequah resident. “This was a great event and I’m glad he started in Tahlequah.”

Congressman Mullin has caseworkers in his Muskogee, McAlester, and Claremore offices who specialize in serving as the liaison between Oklahomans and a number of federal agencies. Caseworkers are trained to help with issues with the Social Security Administration, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the IRS, the State Department, the Office of Workers’ Compensation, issues with passports for international travel, and Medicare.

If you can’t get an answer from a federal agency in a timely fashion, or if you feel you have been treated unfairly, Congressman Mullin’s office may be able to help resolve a problem or get you the information you need.
