WASHINGTON— Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-02) released the following statement after the House passed the second Fiscal Year 2021 funding package. Mullin was not present for the vote due to supporting his son’s ongoing rehabilitation from a wrestling injury but would have voted “no” on the bill.

“Yet again, Pelosi Democrats are using our appropriations process to push their socialist agenda,” Mullin said. “Rather than working with Republicans to find bipartisan compromise, they packed this bill full of partisan poison pills that ensure it will never become law. Especially during this unprecedented time where our country is hurting, we need to put bipartisan solutions over a political agenda.”

H.R. 7617 includes:

  • New restrictions on the President’s ability to secure our border and prohibits funding for the border wall.
  • Numerous partisan poison pill riders that restrict the ability of the commander-in-chief to respond to emergencies.
  • Rolls back long-standing pro-life provisions, makes Planned Parenthood eligible to receive grants, reverses the Trump Administration’s Title X (Protect Life) Rule, overturns the Conscience Protection Rule and allows DC funds to pay for abortion.
  • Underfunds every one of the Justice Department’s federal law enforcement agencies.
  • Conditions on state and local law enforcement to receive grant funding and advances the “defund the police” agenda.
  • $186 billion to fund Democrats’ partisan infrastructure programs.
  • Irresponsibly repealing the 2001 and 2002 AUMF, as well as hindering the Commander in Chief to defend the U.S. from Iran.
  • Eliminates several long-standing Second Amendment protections that have been historically bipartisan.
