WASHINGTON—Congressman Mullin (OK-2) expressed his full support of protecting the lives of the unborn and called for an end to Planned Parenthood receiving federal government funds.

“Every human life is precious,” said Mullin. “As a father of five, I cannot express enough how precious the lives of innocent children are. From the moment of conception, each child is worthy of life and protection from harm. In the 116th Congress, I will continue in my work to safeguard the rights of the unborn, starting with supporting legislation to defund the merciless Planned Parenthood. We, as Americans, have the moral, ethical, and personal responsibility to be the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.”

At the beginning of the 116th Congress, Mullin signed a letter asking President Trump to publicly commit to veto any bill that weakens current federal policy on abortion.

Mullin is a cosponsor of several bills that reaffirm his commitment to pro-life policies including:

The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act would make the Hyde Amendment and other current abortion funding prohibitions permanent and government-wide, and it would ensure that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) faithfully conforms to the Hyde Amendment.

The Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act (H.R. 296) amends the Public Health Service Act to prohibit the Department of Health and Human Service (HHS) from providing federal family planning grants to entities that perform abortions or provide funds to entities that perform abortions.

The Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA) prohibits sex-selected abortions and aborting a child on the basis of the child’s gender.

The Defund Planned Parenthood Act prohibits Planned Parenthood from accessing any federal mandatory or discretionary funds for a one-year period. Neither the parent company, its affiliates, nor associated clinics will be able to apply for or be reimbursed federal dollars unless they certify that they will not perform (or support other entities that perform) an abortion. The legislation authorizes $235 million to be reallocated to the thousands of comprehensive community health centers which do not perform abortions.
