Press release
WASHINGTON—Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-2) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 6157, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, by a vote of 359 – 49.
“Finally, after eight long years under former President Obama, the United States has a commander-in-chief who understands that the strength of our nation rests on the strength of our military and those who answer the call to serve in it,” said Mullin. “Today is a great day for our men and women in uniform and the colors they so proudly defend. The Department of Defense Appropriations Act funds a 2.6% pay raise for our troops—the largest in nine years. In addition, it restores our military’s readiness and rebuilds our armed forces to combat threats both foreign and domestic. I am proud to vote in support of our military and our troops today.”
