“I’m not running for Congress, I’m running to reform Congress, and I humbly ask for your prayers and your support.” Those are the words Oklahoma Congressional District Two Candidate Josh Brecheen says at the end of his first campaign video, released this week on his website: https://joshbrecheen.com. Brecheen is a former state senator who fought against the status quo at the State Capitol and stood up against special interests. He led the fight against Common Core and tax hikes and took a firm stand for policies that protect life and family values. Like former U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, who he served for many years as a field rep in Southeastern Oklahoma, Brecheen kept his term limits pledge serving only eight years in the state Senate. He said he entered the race for Congress because it is time to square off against the giants confronting our nation. “Inflation is out of control. We have a $30 trillion-dollar federal debt. Medicare is insolvent in just four years, Social Security insolvent in 11 years. Illegals are pouring across the Southern border. Crime is rampant and liberal elites are assaulting our most cherished, fundamental values,” Brecheen said. “America is desperate for new leaders who are fixated on liberty; who are not willing to kick the can down the road anymore; who’ll stop doing what’s expedient and do what’s right.” Brecheen says for years Republicans have won elections but refused to truly face our nation’s giants. “And our leaders are putting self-interests above the national interest. Winning elections is meaningless if we lose our nation.” The 42-year-old is a fourth-generation rancher, a committed Christian, and a committed husband and father. He’s operated a small heavy equipment and trucking business. “I grew up learning the value of hard work cleaning horse stalls, breaking colts, and hauling square bails,” he said.
He served as state president of the Oklahoma FFA Association. Brecheen says he knows about Washington’s games because they are the same as the ones played at the state level. “Washington corrupts the newcomers, subtly converting outsiders into insiders,” he said. “I didn’t play the game when I served in the state Senate. I confronted it.” He won’t play the game in Washington either. “Your children and mine deserve better than we’re getting under this President and this Congress,” Brecheen said. “I want my kids and yours, to grow up in the America we’ve enjoyed — the greatest nation the world has ever seen — one bursting with freedom, hope and opportunity. It can be that way again, but only if we humble ourselves as a people, do what’s right and get involved by electing leaders who have the courage and wisdom to make the tough decisions needed to course correct.”
