State Representative Tim Turner (R-Kinta)

By Rep. Tim Turner

The interim is still underway at the State Capitol. Much of our work during this period centers on preparing for and participating in interim studies. These studies provide us the opportunity to take a deeper look at issues facing Oklahomans and to work toward meaningful solutions. Whether I am presenting before a committee or listening alongside my colleagues, these conversations are vital to ensuring that we craft legislation that reflects both the needs and concerns of the people we serve.

One of the most significant interim studies I am preparing for focuses on managed health care. Over the past year and half, we have seen the results—both positive and negative—of the transition into this system. While managed health care was intended to streamline services and reduce costs, it has also brought challenges for patients and providers. The purpose of this study is to identify areas where improvements can and must be made along with working with the MCO’s to make this happen. Our goal is twofold: first, to ensure that patients receive timely, high-quality care, and second, to guarantee that providers are compensated fairly and on time for the critical services they deliver. This is not just a matter of policy—it directly affects families, communities and the stability of health care in rural Oklahoma.

At the same time, the fall season brings many exciting things happening across House District 15. From Friday night lights on the football field to softball games and the start of our local and regional livestock shows, this is a busy season for our students, families and communities. These events highlight the strong traditions we hold dear and the pride we have in our schools, our youth and our agricultural heritage.

We are also beginning to feel the first signs of cooler weather, which is always welcome after a long, hot summer. With the change of season comes a renewed sense of energy, and I look forward to continuing to travel throughout the district, attending events, meeting with constituents and making sure that the needs of House District 15 are heard and represented at the Capitol.

In closing, with school now well underway, I want to extend my deepest appreciation to our educators. You are more than teachers, support staff and administrators—you are mentors, leaders and role models who give of yourselves daily to shape the next generation. Your dedication, both inside the classroom and through countless after-school activities, is a cornerstone of our communities. On behalf of House District 15, thank you for your service and for treating every child as if they were your own.

As always, serving you is a privilege, not a guarantee. I and my family are proud to have this opportunity. If I can help you in my capacity as your representative, please do not hesitate to contact me at the Capitol.  My office phone is (405) 557-7375, and my email is tim.turner@okhouse.gov.
