I would like to announce my candidacy for the office of State Senate District #4.

Now is the time for a leader that will listen to, support, and vote for what is best for all of the constituents across the entire District. That is what I will do as your Senator.

I live in Sallisaw and have been raised a Democrat in District #4 my whole life. My wife, Melinda, and I have 3 grown sons and 5 wonderful grandchildren.

Education changed my life. I am the 8th of 10 children and I was the first to graduate from College. I am proud to say all three of my boys also have graduated from college... first from Carl Albert and then on to earn their bachelors and graduate degree.

I have worked as a social worker in child welfare with the State of Oklahoma.

I was appointed Sequoyah County Election Board Secretary by Senator Larry Dickerson. I was fortunate to spend a lot of time in this district working with and learning from him and I hope to continue on with many of his and Senator Kenneth Corn’s initiatives and priorities.

I then went on and worked numerous years with the developmentally disabled.

I have had the opportunity to be involved in the Democratic process over the years...... as Sequoyah County Democrat Chairman and also as the 2nd District Democrat Chairman. I have also served as a member of the Arkansas-Oklahoma River Commission.

As for a platform, I believe that we should invest in people. There is a difference between investing and giving away.

We have to invest in our children’s education. Education is one of the most important keys to success we can give them. We must work, support and fight for our schools and teachers and not just the big schools – our small schools, which are the backbone of so many communities, are just as important.

We have to support and invest in our Rural Fire Departments. Our firefighters are our first line of defense in our rural areas – whether it’s a structure or grass fire, automobile accidents, medical call or search and rescue during a flood or tornado... our dedicated volunteers are there for us! The men and women who give of themselves to volunteer for the protection of our communities are heroes. I will always do everything in my power to see that they have the means that they need in order to protect our communities and our families.

I am an advocate for the developmentally disabled. There are so many individuals, children and adults that need help..... over 7,500 are currently on a waiting list for services – some for over 10 years. I will always stand up and fight for those that are unable to do so for themselves.

Infrastructure – District #4 has a lot of nice roads and bridges but unfortunately there are even more that are in need of repairs or replacement. It is time that our district had someone like Senator Dickerson and Senator Corn to stand up and fight for and make sure we aren’t forgotten or overlooked anymore.

I am a proud supporter of our active military and veterans. I respect them and vow to always work for the Heroes across District #4.

I support the Second Amendment.

I support Oklahoma State Employees....they have been forgotten or ignored by so many legislators for too long.

I would like to say as your State Senator I will listen, put the best interests of District #4 first and my door will always be open. I ask for your support and vote on June 26th.

Thank you
