Blaylock Chosen for ORES All Archery Team

Gunner Blaylock, a 7th grader at Shady Point, earned a spot on the ORES All Archery Team.

38 K-8 schools competed in the ORES (Organization of Rural Elementary Schools) State Tournament in Shawnee on March 1st.

Blaylock was among 20 archers (the top 10 boys and 10 girls) chosen out of approximately 600 that competed at the tournament.

“Gunner has been a valuable member of our archery team since we began the program last year,” said Hank Austin, the Shady Point archery coach. “He is a leader on the range, but not just on the scorecard. He supports his teammates with advice and encouragement at every practice and tournament. We are all very proud of him.”

The Shady Point archery team placed 6th among the 38 schools at the tournament. The team heads to Louisville, Kentucky in May to compete in the NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) East National Tournament.
