STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's 15th-ranked men's tennis team had a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks on Sunday afternoon inside the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The Cowboys (3-0) got started by winning the doubles point from the Razorbacks. To light a fire under the squad, on court two the duo of Henrik Korsgaard and Mathieu Scaglia registered a 6-2 victory over Enrique Paya and Jose Dominguez. Dominik Kellovksy and Etienne Donnet dropped their match on court three to Alex Reco and Nico Rousset, 6-2, leaving the point to be decided on court one.
Henrik Korsgaard was the first Cowboy to strike in singles play, defeating Melvin Manuel, 6-2, 6-4, at the No. four spot.
On court two, Alex Reco would win over Kellovsky, 6-3, 6-4, to get the Razorbacks on the board. Enrique Paya took the victory on court six over Donnet, 6-2, 6-3, and Hudd would also drop his match on court three to Nico Rousset, 6-2, 7-5, putting Arkansas a point away from victory.
The match would come down to courts one and five. After fighting hard on court five, Scaglia secured the point.
In the first set, Adrien Burdet stole the tie-braker 7-6(10). Scaglia fought hard and came out victorious after taking the final two sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Vocel secured the first set in his match after sweeping the tie-breaker on court one, 7-6(7), over Maxim Verbone. Vocel dropped the second set, 6-4, but came out victorious in the third set, 7-5.
The Cowboys will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 20 when they travel to California to face USC and Pepperdine.
