2018 Oklahoma Baptist Men’s Cross Country Schedule
SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist head coach Mark Heard announced the 2018 schedule for the Bison Cross Country team Wednesday morning.
After finishing in the top 20 of the NCAA Central Regional last season, the Bison are looking to take the next step as they enter their second season of Division II competition.
The Bison open up the season on Sept. 1 when they head to Edmond to compete at the Central Oklahoma Land Run. Two weeks later, on Sept. 15, OBU journeys to Joplin, Missouri, for the Missouri Southern Stampede.
Following the Stampede, Oklahoma Baptist faces a short turnaround before making the trip to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to take part in the Chili Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas on Sept. 22. It will mark the first time OBU has competed at the meet since 2015.
After another two week respite, OBU then hosts their lone home meet of the season when they welcome teams to Shawnee for the OBU Invitational on Oct. 6. The Invitational was won by the Bison last year.
Oklahoma Baptist takes the rest of October off in preparation for the Great American Conference Championship on Nov. 3. The race will be held in Edmond at the same location as the UCO Land Run.
Two weeks later, the Bison will return to Joplin for the NCAA Central Regional on Nov. 14. With a successful race, OBU can advance to the NCAA National Championship on Dec. 1 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
