The 4th grade Poteau Pirates competed in the Arkansas River Valley Basketball League over the weekend and became league championship.
The 4th grade Poteau Pirates had a record of 11 wins and 1 loss. The Pirates battled the Cedarville Pirates for the championship. The final score was 31 to 27.
The Pirates are coached by Lyle Whitworth and Connor Whitworth.
“The boys have gotten a lot better from last year getting beat in the first round of the tournament,” said coach, Lyle Whitworth. “We made a few position changes and added Caden Mitchell to the team which helped a lot in the rebounding area. The boys play a fast pace game which a lot of their opponents have a difficult time defending. I’m super proud of their accomplishments and I know they have a bright future ahead.”
