Poteau, Oklahoma – March 20, 2024 – Special Olympics Oklahoma Area 10, under the leadership of Randy Weaver, Director of Special Olympics Oklahoma Area 10, is proud to announce the hosting of the Area Track and Field Competition in Poteau, Oklahoma. The event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 27, starting at 10:00 a.m. at Poteau High School’s Costner Stadium, located at 100 Stadium Drive.

The Area Track and Field Competition is set to be a vibrant showcase of athleticism, sportsmanship, and community spirit, bringing together over 180 athletes, volunteers, and coaches from across the region. Participants will compete in a variety of track and field events, demonstrating their skills and determination in pursuit of personal achievements and recognition.

“We are thrilled to be hosting the Area Track and Field Competition here in Poteau,” said Randy Weaver, Director of Special Olympics Oklahoma Area 10. “This event is not only a celebration of athleticism but also a testament to the resilience and dedication of our athletes. We invite the community to join us in cheering on these remarkable individuals as they showcase their talents.”

The competition will feature athletes of all ages and abilities, competing in events such as sprints, relays, long jump, shot put, and more. Spectators can expect an inspiring display of courage, determination, and camaraderie throughout the day.

The Area Track and Field Competition promises to be a day filled with excitement, sportsmanship, and community pride. Members of the public are encouraged to

attend and show their support for the athletes as they compete in this uplifting and inclusive event.
