RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s 10th Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the 2019-20 season. Harding’s Cheyenne Brown captured the Women’s award while Southern Nazarene’s Jhonathan Dunn claimed the Men’s accolade.
GAC WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Cheyenne Brown, Harding, F, Sr., Ben Wheeler, Texas
Brown led the Lady Bisons to a road win at Arkansas Tech and a home victory against Southern Arkansas by averaging 22.5 points and 9.0 rebounds. Brown, who entered the week averaging 8.6 points per game, tallied a career-high 28 in the overtime triumph against the Golden Suns. She registered her first double-double of the season. She added five blocked shots.
GAC MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jhonathan Dunn, Southern Nazarene, G, Sr., San Antonio, Texas
Dunn became the first men’s player in GAC history to reach the 2,000-point plateau during the Crimson Storm’s 17-point win against Oklahoma Baptist. He followed up with a career-high 42 points against East Central. In the two wins, he went 26-for-39 from the floor and 8-for-15 from the 3-point arc. He ranks second in Division II in scoring, averaging 28.6 points per game.
