RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the eighth week of the men’s soccer season. Oklahoma Baptist swept the awards as Dominic Gibson earned the Offensive honor; Dave Brown claimed the Defender accolade and Bronson Wise received the nod as the top Goalkeeper.
GAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Dominic Gibson, Oklahoma Baptist, MF, So., Fort Collins, Colorado
Gibson recorded his first two goals of the season as he helped the Bison pick up a pair of road wins. In their GAC finale against Southern Nazarene, he netted his first goal of the season on a 45th-minute tally. The Bison won the game, 4-2, to complete a season sweep of the Crimson Storm. He scored the opening goal in their 6-3 win against Southwest Baptist.
GAC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK – Dave Brown, Oklahoma Baptist, D, Jr., Cardiff, Wales
Brown anchored a back line that allowed teams an average of 14 shots over three road games last week. The Bison picked up a pair of road victories after they entered the week with an 0-4 record away from home. He helped the Bison extend their win streak against Southern Nazarene to eight.
GAC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Bronson Wise, Oklahoma Baptist, Jr., Shawnee, Oklahoma
Wise made his first two appearances in net for the Bison in a month as he played the full 90 minutes at Southern Nazarene and the full second half at Upper Iowa. Against the Crimson Storm, he made six saves in the 4-2 win that denied the Crimson Storm the top seed for the GAC Championships. He made a pair of saves in a scoreless second half against the Peacocks.
