RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s fifth Men’s Soccer Player of the Week awards of the 2021 spring season. Southern Nazarene’s Angel Lopez garnered Offensive Player of the Week; Rogers State’s Callum
Hubble earned Defender of the Week and Harding’s Jared Nitz won Goalkeeper of the Week.

GAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Angel Lopez, Southern Nazarene, M, Jr., The Colony, Texas

Lopez scored two second-half goals at Newman in the Crimson Storm’s 4-1 victory against the Jets that helped them secure a spot in the upcoming GAC Championships. His first goal, a 73rd minute tally, gave the Crimson Storm a 2-1 advantage. He
increased the margin to 3-1 with an 81st minute goal for his first multi-goal performance of his career.

GAC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK – Callum Hubble, Rogers State, D, Sr., Chelmsford, England

Hubble made two crucial stops on the backline to help the Hillcats secure a draw with Harding. He made a clean open field slide tackle in the penalty area to stop a scoring chance. He eliminated a second scoring opportunity coming in from the wing
after a Harding player worked past another Hillcat defender to make the tackle and prevent a dangerous pass.

GAC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Jared Nitz, Harding, Fr., Oak Grove, Missouri

In his third appearance in net for the Bisons, Nitz made a season-high eight saves against No. 8 Rogers State. The lone goal he surrendered came off of a penalty kick. The 1-1 draw with the Hillcats represented the first time in 31 instances that the
Bisons did not lose to a nationally-ranked opponent.
