Poteau, OKLAHOMA – The Poteau Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Kim Wilson was chosen at the 2019 Citizen of the Year.

The award was presented to her at the 100th Annual Poteau of Chamber Commerce Banquet on Feb 28.

The Citizen of The Year Award is a very distinguished award presented each year to a person that is someone that not only takes care of family, a business or work place but also has the best interest of the community at heart and devotes many hours helping with a campaign for economic growth, downtown development, the museum, and the chamber or any other non-profit organization.

“Tonight, we recognize and proudly honor a person that does all the above. She does not do it for this award but for the rewards the community benefits from her service,” said Karen Wages, CEO of the Poteau Chamber.

She joined Main Street Board in 2017 and is currently president.

 

She received the Bronze Presidential Award for over 139 volunteers’ hours for downtown.

She has helped bring many special events to downtown including music to the park and the 2018 Christmas Light Show.

She is a constant supporter and promoter of events spending countless hours and money to ensure everything is executed flawlessly.

She served as an advisor for the Poteau School Bond Campaign Committee. To build a new Jr. High School.

She currently serves as a Trustee on the Carl Albert State College Development College Foundation Board of Trustees and serves on the Annual Gold Dust Gala Committee. She supports the Miss CASC Pageant and participates in the CASC Adopt A Scholar Program.

Kim along with her husband Tim Wilson and Family Billy and Starla Hoffman were inducted into the Carl Albert State College Hall of Fame in 2017 for their significant contributions to the establishment and growth of CASC.

 

Kim Hoffman Wilson was very active in school and at college.

 

She was in the Miss CASC pageant, an athlete, and an avid barrel racer.

She is the Daughter of Jody and Bill Hoffman and has one brother Billy Ray Hoffman.

She is married to Tim Wilson and has two children Grant and Gabba.

 

She is a downtown business owner´” the Purple Plume” and is a great part of the family business JOB Construction.
