ODOT Advisory

Conditions have improved significantly and highways are now mostly clear in northwestern, western, southwestern, northern, central and southern Oklahoma. Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews in these areas continue to closely monitor roadways.

Highways in northeastern Oklahoma, including the Tulsa metro area, are mostly clear but some slick spots remain in Mayes County. In eastern Oklahoma, rural highways remain slick in Cherokee, McIntosh, Muskogee, Okmulgee and Wagoner counties.

The I-35 and I-44 corridors are clear and the pavements are now drying.

The I-40 corridor is slick in spots between Shawnee and Henryetta.

The US-69 corridor is slick in spots between Wagoner and Eufaula.

ODOT crews have plenty of salt and sand supplies on hand to continue meeting highway safety needs across the state and workers are preparing for the next round of winter weather predicted for this weekend. Drivers should begin to plan ahead for a major snowfall event occurring this weekend through much of next week.

Check road conditions at https://www.okroads.org or on the Drive Oklahoma mobile app.

REMEMBER during snowy and icy conditions, motorists are asked to:

  • Stay about 200 feet behind road clearing equipment; crews need room to maneuver and can engage plowing or spreading materials without notice.
  • Allow extra space between vehicles to provide adequate distance for braking.
  • Be aware of “black ice,” which looks wet on the roadway but is a thin layer of ice.
  • Be patient, plan trips ahead and allow extra time in reaching destinations.

NOTE: The next advisory will be sent at 8 p.m. Thursday.
