Yochum has worked 10 years for Wal-Mart Stores Inc where he was the Department Manager for Tire and Lube Express. Yochum was hired to work in the Assessor’s Office in 2002. He worked in the office doing field card filing, personal property assessments and homestead exemptions. I went to the field and did field appraisal work.
He has full accreditation from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. If you value property for the Assessor you have to have passed classes through the Center for Local Government from Oklahoma State University. In 2008 he left the Assessor’s Office and went to work for Kelli Ford as a land deputy.
As a land deputy he worked deeds, mortgages, oil and gas leases and answered phones waited the front counter where he has probably waited on or helped you many times. He worked for Kelli until Dec of 2020. I am currently the Emergency Management Director for the county.
Yochum was a firefighter for the City of Poteau from 2004 to 2012 where he was medically retired due to major neck surgery. His medical team wouldn’t release me to fight fire again. Yochum is an active member of Southside Baptist Church in Poteau.
“I look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Le Flore County as your next Assessor. I will work tirelessly to assure that the work is done correctly and to the letter of the law.”
